How I think about music
My approach combines an interest in music and culture with research, critical thinking, systems thinking and execution.
What drew me to the business side of music is seeing talented artists struggle to reach their potential when access to networks, collaboration and genuine support is limited. I am interested in the people, decisions, systems and cultural developments behind music: how talent is recognised, how artists develop, and what helps creative people find one another and work together.
I write about this, published through iDiscovr Media on X, Substack and Instagram, covering Afrobeats, the music business, artist education and song analysis. Read the writing.
From engineering to creative discovery
I hold a B.Sc. in Software Engineering (First-Class Honors, 2021 to 2026). For me, that degree is a foundation in structured problem-solving, learning, research and considered delivery.
iDiscovr is where that background meets my interest in creative discovery. I founded it with Chidera, my Co-founder & CTO, who led the technical build, and it is a completed app available on the Apple App Store and Google Play. It helps African creatives discover one another and connect for potential collaboration through talent, skills and creative compatibility.
Research and strategic thinking
I wrote a 13-slide talent acceleration and A&R operations blueprint on my own, as part of an internship application to WeTalkSound. It is independent research. It was not commissioned or endorsed by WeTalkSound.
Professional experience
- experience
- NIGCOMSAT
I have also given informal, uncredited A&R support to music creatives, coordinating information, collaborators, creative assets and delivery requirements between artists, producers and others to keep creative projects moving. This was not an official A&R position at any organisation, and I do not hold a credit for it. It is why the operational side of A&R interests me.
How I approach work:
- Research before execution
- Clear communication
- Timely reporting
- Attention to detail
- Structured problem-solving
- Following through on responsibilities
- Breaking complex work into manageable steps
Current interests and direction
My focus is the music industry: A&R, artist development, talent scouting and acceleration, music strategy and research, and music operations, in record labels and music-tech. Technology, research and systems thinking are what I bring to that work.
