iDiscovr: creative discovery for African creatives
A completed app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, that helps creatives find one another and connect for collaboration through talent, skills and creative compatibility. I founded it with Chidera, my Co-founder & CTO.

The problem and opportunity
I kept seeing capable artists who struggled to reach their potential because they lacked access to networks, collaboration, support and a genuine team around their craft. A lack of collaboration and gatekeeping were part of that. I focused on African creatives because it is the market I know.
The opportunity: make creative ability easier to find, independent of follower count, and help creatives connect on talent, skills and creative compatibility. The ambition is a decentralised “Lagos” for creative networking, where useful networks and collaboration depend less on physical proximity or gatekeepers.
The idea
iDiscovr is built around three steps, as described on its official website and Google Play listing.
- DiscoverSwipe through profiles built around real music and creative work, not follower count.
- MatchWhen two people are both interested, they match.
- CollaborateMessage, share files and move projects forward in the app.
The app also lets industry stakeholders, such as labels, managers, A&Rs and scouts, discover talent. That link between creatives and the people who look for them connects directly to my interest in A&R and talent discovery.
My role and the team
iDiscovr has two co-founders with distinct, complementary areas of responsibility. I founded it and led the product, design, brand and business side. Chidera, Co-founder & CTO, led the technical side.

Challenges and decisions
The challenge I set out to address was access: capable creatives without the networks, support or team to move forward. These are the product decisions I can describe.
- Focus on African creatives, because that is the market I know.
- Design around collaboration barriers and gatekeeping by making talent and networks easier to reach.
- Design for discovery and compatibility, as well as for practical collaboration.
- Build for creatives in dispersed regions to connect with one another and with industry opportunities.
Outcome
iDiscovr is a completed product, available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.
Reflection
A belief sits behind all of this: support and a network around an artist’s craft can make a substantial difference. That is my perspective on why the product matters, not a measured outcome.
