Dubem’s ID badge, hanging from an orange lanyard

I work where music culture, talent discovery and creative technology meet.

I'm Dubem. I combine research, systems thinking and execution to help creative ideas move forward, from A&R research to a published app.

iDiscovr

COMPLETED

A creative discovery app for African creatives, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play. I founded it with Chidera, my Co-founder & CTO.

Talented creatives can struggle to find collaborators and opportunities because discovery tends to follow existing networks, visibility, geography and follower counts. I founded iDiscovr to make creative ability easier to find and to help creatives connect for collaboration through talent, skills and creative compatibility. I led the product vision, research, design, brand, marketing and operations; Chidera, Co-founder & CTO, led the technical build.

The app includes a swipe-based Discover feed, saved profiles, messaging with text, media and voice notes, and a project board, and lets industry stakeholders discover talent. (As listed on Google Play.)

  1. DiscoverFind creatives by their work and skills, not their follower count.
  2. MatchConnect on talent, skills and creative compatibility.
  3. CollaborateMove creative projects forward together.

Music & Culture

I write about Afrobeats and developments in the music industry, explain parts of the business to artists, and break down songs to show what they say and where they come from.

Strategic thinking

INDEPENDENT RESEARCH

A 13-slide talent acceleration and A&R operations blueprint, written independently for a WeTalkSound internship application.

Its argument: after discovery, the real opportunity is organising what a company already knows about a creative (talent intelligence), keeping creative and producer work moving to delivery, applying a structured A&R lens, and treating audience response as A&R information.
